For the choir director. A
Possibly Contemplative, or Didactic, or Skillful Psalm
Maskil of David,
1 Sam 22:9
when Doeg the Edomite came and told Saul and said to him, “David has come to the house of Ahimelech.”

1 Why do you cboast in evil, O mighty man?
The dlovingkindness of God endures all day long.
2Your tongue devises edestruction,
Like a fsharp razor, gO worker of deceit.
3You hlove evil more than good,
iFalsehood more than speaking what is right.
Selah may mean: Pause, Crescendo or Musical interlude
Selah.
4You love all words that devour,
O kdeceitful tongue.

5
Or Also
But God will break you down forever;
He will snatch you up and mtear you away from your tent,
And nuproot you from the oland of the living. Selah.
6The righteous will psee and fear,
And will qlaugh at him, saying,
7Behold, the man who would not make God his refuge,
But rtrusted in the abundance of his riches
And swas strong in
Or his destruction
his evil desire.”

8But as for me, I am like a ugreen olive tree in the house of God;
I vtrust in the lovingkindness of God forever and ever.
9I will wgive You thanks forever, because You have done it,
And I will wait on Your name, xfor it is good, in the presence of Your godly ones.
